95 Years Old 2014 Kresge Eminent Artist - Bill Rauhauser

Street Photographer Bill Rauhauser was named as the 2014 Kresge Eminent Artist for his contribution to the culture of Detroit. Not many people can be alive at the age of 95 and insist on the career of photography for 60 years.

Compared with the $50,000, I'm sure that the honor of the award makes him much happier.“That was the biggest surprise of all,” Rauhauser said.“Being chosen for this is really important to me,” he added. “I’ve had a great, full life, but things have been opening up recently. This takes it to another level.”

Rauhauser’s iconic black-and-white photographs — shot mostly on the streets of Detroit — have been displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

Will you still insist on photography at the age of 95?

Below are some collections of his black-and-white works.
