Enjoy the World of Macrophotography

Equipment recommendations:
Macro lens: This is necessary for macro photography (there are some replacements if you just want to try macro photography). I'd recommend Canon MPE 65mm F/2.9 1-5X
Ring flash: It can help you get the macro image without shadow.
Tripod and shutter line: Stability is the biggest problem of macro photography

The closer the subject, the lower the depth-of-field. Try to use big aperture to decrease the depth-of-field can make more attracting scenes.

Use manual focus. MF is the key step of macro photography. No matter to the camera or photographer, the shaking may damage the definition.

Ring flash allows you using a quicker shutter speed, lower ISO and smaller aperture. Meantime, adding reflective plate or light source is also a good choice.

College Student Wins Photography Prizes Several Times By Stolen Pictures

Mark Joseph Solis, the college student from Philippines, won the prize of International Competitions several times. However, the reason is not because that he has excellent photography trick or genius, it is because that he use the stolen pictures.

In the competition of “Smiles for the World”, Mark won the prize with the above picture, but this one is actually the works of Gregory John Smith (the original picture still can be found on Flickr). He fabricated the story background as well as the child’s name. The thing is exposed recently. He sent a apologize letter to Gregory:

It seems like a sincere apologize. But according to the records, he won the United Nations International Year of Water Photo Contest with the same work. This may force the competition demand the providing of RAW format and portfolio files in the future.
