The final results of 2013 Getty Grants for
Editorial have been announced. 5 photographers are selected: Matt Eich (US), Samuel James (US), Eugene Richards (US), Tomas Van Houtryve (FR), Marco Gualazzi (IT). Two of them are
new generation who born at 1986.
Matt Eich: Sin & Salvation in Baptist Town
He recorded the living status of people in
Baptist (town of Mississippi). In this town that population 15505, over 50.9%
of the African American are living in the status of poverty.
Samule James: The Water of My Land
In this project, Samule went into the
rainforest of Niger Delta in Africa and recorded the story of “stealing” petrol.
Due to the poor government guarantee and less job opportunity, the youngsters risk
their life to steal petrol from the Niger tubes. Petrol changed the living way
of them as well as the environment.

Eugene Richards: War is Personal
Eugene recorded the long effect of
war on the solders of Iraq War. People always think war is the group, but it is
wrong, war is personal.
